Muscle Pain and Tea: The Relationship Between Muscle Pain and Caffeine
Right off the bat, the author of this article has recently become enthusiastic about weight training and is experiencing some pleasant muscle soreness today. So, I decided to look into the relationship between tea and muscle pain and found a rather interesting study that I’d like to share.
Can Tea Alleviate Muscle Pain?
I searched for research on whether tea itself can alleviate muscle pain but couldn’t find any studies specifically addressing that. However, I did find research on the effects of caffeine, which is present in tea, on muscle pain.
A study reported that muscle soreness from 30 minutes of high-intensity cycling was reduced with caffeine intake (5 mg/kg) (Gliottoni et al., 2009). This effect was more pronounced in groups with lower habitual caffeine consumption.

It seems that caffeine in tea can help alleviate muscle pain. It’s a win-win to enjoy a delicious cup of tea while relaxing and easing muscle soreness!
