Intriguing Tea News – Following Kei Ōura, a Key Figure in Tea Exports

Do you know Kei Ōura, the female merchant from Nagasaki? Some of you might remember her from the 2010 historical drama “Ryomaden,” where she was portrayed by Yoshiko Yoshioka.

She is celebrated as a pioneer in Japanese tea exports and a supporter of the Bakumatsu period, often referred to as one of Nagasaki’s three great women. However, it seems that historical records about her are limited. I recently came across news that the “Nagasaki Ōura Kei Japanese Tea Export Historical Research Society” is seeking materials and papers about Kei Ōura starting from October 1, 2023.

They are offering a total prize of 1 million yen for discoveries related to her historical materials or papers that might be found at home.

Unfortunately, our company does not have any historical materials or papers on Kei Ōura. However, if anyone has information, it might be worth sharing.

I’m excited about the possibility of discovering new facts through this call for information!
