Some teplo products and packaging contain the following hidden message:
Designed by LOAD&ROAD on Earth Made in XXXX
This phrase originated during the early days of teplo, when we were prototyping the teplo teapot in Boston. Initially used as a joke, it has now become a representation of our company’s structure and culture.
In this article, we will explore the background of how this phrase came about. When shipping hardware, it is necessary to list the country of manufacture. While it is not mandatory to specify where the product is designed, the phrase “Designed By Apple In California Assembled In China” found on Apple products is quite famous.
During our prototyping phase, we discussed what regional name to include following “Designed by LOAD&ROAD” if we were to use a similar phrase as Apple. Should it be Boston, Tokyo, Japan, Pune (our development base in India), or India?
Here’s the article As introduced in the article, since teplo is developed in various locations around the world, it was difficult to choose a single region or country to list, and no specific term seemed quite right. So, as a joke, it was decided to use “on Earth” to indicate development across the globe, and thus, the prototype was marked with this term.
“Designed by LOAD&ROAD on Earth Made in U.S.A.“
When we added “on Earth,” it felt the most fitting.
This phrase embodies our company’s philosophy of conducting technological development with a global team in a fitting and efficient manner. It also carries a subtle irony towards the giant company Apple, which can be considered a bit of a playful dig from our venture company. In other words, it’s a touch of what some might call “teenage angst.”
Since then, the phrase “Designed by LOAD&ROAD on Earth” has been used with a sense of playfulness in our products. You might find this phrase on the packaging or in hidden parts of the product itself. If you spot it, let us know!
And please, don’t disassemble the product just to find the phrase 🙂
