Sabaragamuwa was originally part of this Ruhuna Tea-producing area. As a result, the teas produced in Sabaragamuwa have very similar characteristics to those of Ruhuna Tea. However, in recent years, Sabaragamuwa Tea has been marketed independently, gaining recognition under its own name.
