【What is Tocho-cha?】
In December 2023, under the management of LOAD&ROAD Inc, which operates the tea brand teplo, we began growing tea trees as indoor plants in the office of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building 1. Tea leaves were picked by the Tokyo metropolitan government officers, and the tea made from the leaves is called Tocho-cha.

【What efforts were made to create the Tocho-cha?】
The Tocho-cha project started as part of the startup collaboration project implemented by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. The startup collaboration project aims to solve issues in the Tokyo Metropolitan Government through collaboration with startups.
In response to the issues of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, such as the embodiment of one team, having greenery in the office, and creation of spaces that are enjoyable to work in, the indoor plants using tea trees proposed by LOAD&ROAD, which operates the tea brand teplo, was adopted and the introduction of tea trees as indoor plants, implementation of tea picking events, tea processing, etc. were carried out.

【Are all Tocho-cha made from tea leaves grown in the office?】
Tocho-cha is made from tea leaves grown in the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office as part of its ingredients, but it is blended with tea leaves grown outside the office using a tea blending technique called “Gogumi” to create the final product. Tokyo Sayama tea, a specialty product of Tokyo, is also blended in the Gogumi process.

【What does TMG tea taste like?】
Tocho-cha has a good balance of flavor and astringency, a well-balanced taste typical of Japanese sencha teas. The blend is made to fit in any scenes such as during meetings, meals, and breaks.

【Where can I buy Tocho-cha?】
Tocho-cha is not currently sold to the general public. It is used as a souvenir for TMG employees on overseas business trips and as a hospitality item for visitors.

【Can we install tea trees in our own offices?】
If you are interested in installing tea trees in your office, please contact LOAD&ROAD Corporation (hello.japan@load-road.com).
