Have you recently come across a tea called Green Rooibos? Previously Characteristics of Rooibos Tea and How to Brew It Deliciously<\/a> I introduced Rooibos tea before, but in this article, I’ll explain the differences between Green Rooibos and Rooibos, as well as the characteristics and how to brew Green Rooibos deliciously.<\/p>

First, let’s discuss the differences between Green Rooibos and Rooibos. Both Green Rooibos and Rooibos are made from the leaves of the Aspalathus linearis plant, a leguminous shrub native to South Africa, so they share the same raw material. Both are, of course, caffeine-free.<\/p>

In terms of appearance, Green Rooibos has a yellowish-green color, while Rooibos is a vibrant red. In the photo below, the yellowish-green tea leaves are Green Rooibos, and the red leaves are Rooibos.<\/p>

This color difference is due to the different processing methods of Rooibos tea. Essentially Differences in the Preparation Methods for Green Tea, Oolong Tea, and Black Tea <\/a>The difference in processing methods introduced earlier is the same here: Rooibos tea is made from leaves that have been fermented (oxidized) to become a beautiful brown color, while Green Rooibos is made from leaves that are dried before fermentation (oxidation). The color of the brewed tea might make you expect a vibrant green similar to green tea, given the name ‘Green Rooibos,’ but in reality, Green Rooibos brews to an orange color as shown in the photo below.<\/p>

“Both Rooibos and Green Rooibos have a refreshing aroma that evokes a sense of soil and nature unique to Rooibos. In terms of taste, Rooibos has a heavier body due to fermentation, while Green Rooibos offers a lighter and more refreshing experience. Both are very easy to drink, so it\u2019s recommended to choose based on your preference or the occasion.<\/p>
