However, since the meanings of &#8216;ocha no ko&#8217; and &#8216;saisai&#8217; are not immediately clear, I decided to look into it a bit.<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image alignfull size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/teplotea.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/takafumi-yamashita-MeiWDyodbSQ-unsplash-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6498\" srcset=\"https:\/\/teplotea.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/takafumi-yamashita-MeiWDyodbSQ-unsplash-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/teplotea.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/takafumi-yamashita-MeiWDyodbSQ-unsplash-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/teplotea.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/takafumi-yamashita-MeiWDyodbSQ-unsplash-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/teplotea.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/takafumi-yamashita-MeiWDyodbSQ-unsplash-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/teplotea.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/takafumi-yamashita-MeiWDyodbSQ-unsplash-2048x1365.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/teplotea.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/takafumi-yamashita-MeiWDyodbSQ-unsplash-600x400.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><p>First, I looked up &#8220;ocha no ko&#8221; in a dictionary and found that it doesn&#8217;t refer to the child of tea or young tea buds, but rather to a snack or light meal served with tea.<\/p><p>So what about &#8220;saisai&#8221;?<br>Since there wasn&#8217;t a clear explanation in the dictionary, I checked the etymology dictionary for &#8220;ocha no ko saisai&#8221; and found that &#8220;saisai&#8221; comes from the chant &#8220;saisai&#8221; in the folk song &#8220;Nonno-ko-bushi&#8221; from Nagasaki and Isahaya. By the way, &#8220;nonno-ko&#8221; is a dialect term from Isahaya meaning &#8220;cute child.&#8221; As &#8220;saisai&#8221; is a chant word, it seems there is no corresponding kanji for it. As a side note, there&#8217;s also a shochu named &#8220;Nonno-ko&#8221; from Saga that I&#8217;d like to try.<\/p><p>So &#8220;ocha no ko saisai&#8221; originates from the idea of casually enjoying tea snacks and being able to joke around lightly.<\/p><p>Another interesting tidbit about tea has been added to my collection.<\/p><p>That\u2019s the origin of &#8220;ocha no ko saisai.&#8221;<\/p><div class=\"inherit-container-width wp-block-group alignfull is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\"><hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<div class=\"inherit-container-width wp-block-group is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\"><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\" style=\"margin-top:0;margin-right:0;margin-bottom:0;margin-left:0\">\u304a\u3059\u3059\u3081\u8a18\u4e8b<\/h2><\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-d7d455e7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\" style=\"border-style:none;border-width:0px;border-radius:0px;padding-top:0;padding-right:0;padding-bottom:0;padding-left:0\"><div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.34%\"><figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-teplo wp-block-embed-teplo\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"CyNAX9EY1b\"><a href=\"https:\/\/teplotea.com\/88-nights\/\">\u3044\u307e\u3055\u3089\u805e\u3051\u306a\u3044!?
